Our scholarships for the 2019 intake are now open to all Victorian-based international students aged 18 years and above.

As a Project Global Citizen Scholar, you’ll undertake an eight-week cultural competency accelerator program designed to radically improve employability of international students in Australia.

Project Global Citizen is a personal and professional development course for international students seeking to develop Cultural Intelligence for studying, living and working across cultures as a truly global citizen.

When you apply for the 2019 scholarship, you’ll commit to attending a half-day on-site workshop in early October 2019 and completing a series of online activities by the end of November 2019.

Scholarship applications close by 5pm on Wednesday 11th September, 2019.

Update. Due to the overwhelming response and requests for an extension, scholarship applications will be accepted up until 5pm on Friday 13th September, 2019.

Our tip. Apply quickly because there are only a limited number of scholarships available.  Furthermore, eligible applicants will be granted scholarships on a first-come, first-served basis.

About the Scholarship.

BENEFITS.

Project Global Citizen will increase your ability to understand and effectively navigate cultural differences in relation to your personal academic, employability and social situation here in Australia and around the world.

We’ll help build your cultural competency skills to survive and thrive in any local context, both now and into the future.

When you graduate from the Project Global Citizen program, you’ll be certified with a micro credential you can showcase in your CV and LinkedIn profile to verify your Cultural Intelligence and integration into the Australian community.

This qualification acknowledges your acquisition of specific cross-cultural competencies highly sought after within the professional landscape.

The Project Global Citizen 2019 Victorian Scholarship has been awarded Victorian Government support through Study Melbourne, with funding through the Victorian Government’s International Student Welfare Program.

The Project Global Citizen Consortium for the 2019 program is led by Melbourne Polytechnic. Other consortium members include VicWISE (Victorian Working Group on International Student Employability) the two project co-founders, CTC, Cultural Transition Consulting and Alphacrane Intercultural Specialists.

Project Global Citizen (PGC) was cofounded in 2017 as a partnership between Craig Shim (Alphacrane Intercultural Specialists) and Astrid Hofmann (CTC, Cultural Transition Consulting).

The cost of participating in the 2019 Project Global Citizen program is $7,500.  Thanks to the generous support of the Victorian Government through Study Melbourne, this course fee is fully funded by  the Victorian Government’s International Student Welfare Program. That means there’s no cost to our Project Global Citizen scholars. However scholars do not receive any direct funding themselves.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA.

At Project Global Citizen, we’re focused on helping those international students who will get the most value out of building cultural competency skills to thrive and survive in Australia and around the world.

In other words, you don’t have to be great at bridging cultures just yet (i.e. at the time of applying for this scholarship) – that’s what we’re here for!

Instead, we’re mainly interested to know how much you’ll personally benefit from the program. The greater your need, the higher the chance you’ll have in being awarded a scholarship.

Specifically, we’re assessing your application against your need for help in one or more of the following areas:

  • Doing well in your academic studies
  • Feeling integrated into Australian society
  • Securing internships or employment
  • Having a safe and enjoyable experience in Australia
