The expectations of international students are not always met in relation to their post-arrival transition experience, employability options and safety.
The vision is to ensure international students arriving in Australia have the right cultural skills to thrive in their studies, feel integrated into Australian society, secure ethical internships and employment, and have a safe and enjoyable experience.
The pilot project will be Queensland’s most extensive global survey to date for identifying cultural competency gaps of students in relation to academic learning, social integration, securing internships, employment and safety.
Findings from the pilot project to be shared in late 2018 will help international students, education agents, institutions, peak organisations and student support providers in improving the student experience.
Data from the surveys will also inform the intercultural resources being developed for international students by Alphacrane Intercultural Specialists and CTC, Cultural Transition Consulting as part of the broader Project Global Citizen initiative.
